SEER GREEN 2013
The winning villages in the 2013 Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village Competition, organised by the Bucks & Milton Keynes Association of Local Councils (BMKALC), have been revealed and we are pleased to report that Seer Green has won the DeFraine Cup (in the medium villages category).

The DeFraine Cup was presented by the Lord Lieutenant Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher to Cllr Dennis Scourfield on Saturday 14th September in Seer Green.

The competition is sponsored by Bucks County Council, Aylesbury Vale and Wycombe District Councils and Motts Coaches.

The Beaconsfield and Amersham offices of international real estate adviser Savills have also kindly sponsored the competition’s Community Award again this year and we are pleased to report that Seer Green is this year's winner.  Seer Green won for showing the most evidence of community effort in achieving best kept village status. The Award was presented by Claire Pincott, Andrew Cronan and Mike Lillitou from Savills to Cllr Dennis Scourfield and the Parish Clerk

Seer Green has also won the Leofwine Shield 2013
.
This is awarded annually to the town or village within the District achieving the highest number of points in the Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village Competition.

Competition chairman, Richard Pushman commented: “The Best Kept Village Competition remains as popular as ever. Our judges were impressed with the standard of entries and highlighted that Buckinghamshire as a whole, and not just the Best Kept Villages, is in remarkably great shape. Well done to all those litter pickers and volunteers who make such an effort to keep their communities tidy.”

The competition awards are for BEST KEPT villages, NOT beautiful villages. Care, cleanliness, maintenance and community effort were what the judges were looking for when they visited the villages in June.
